PENSACOLA (FBW)—The four entities supported in part by the Florida Baptist State Convention delivered their reports in the form of video presentations at the FBSC annual meeting at Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola Nov. 10-11. Reports include were made by The Baptist College of Florida, Florida Baptist Children’s Homes, Florida Baptist Financial Services and Florida Baptist Witness.
Thomas Kinchen, president of the Baptist College of Florida, in a video report, said the college is about “God’s people doing his work, that His Kingdom might come and His will be done on Earth.”
The college serves students from 28 states and from 14 different countries. BCF also offers study in Brazil.
Not only can students attend BCF’s main campus in Graceville, Kinchen said, but can also attend one of BCF’s other sites located in Jacksonville, Pensacola, and Orlando. Students can also enroll in one of the college’s certificate programs available in Tallahassee, Lake City, and Ocala, or get involved in the college’s distance learning program online.
BCF ranks third in the number of graduates who are going into vocational Christian service, said Kinchen, and ranks 48 in the cost of attendance among Southern Baptist colleges. The written report also said this is the first year that BCF began an Intercollegiate Athletics program and has become a member of the national Christian College Association. The growing campus has also completed construction on a new administration building and three new residence halls.
“One of the greatest joys of life is to serve as the president of the Baptist College of Florida, and one of the greatest anticipations of my life is to see all that God wants to pour into and squeeze out of Florida Baptists and the Baptist College of Florida” Kinchen said.
Jerry Haag, president of the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes, in his video report, said this year marks 105 years that the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes have been caring for and serving children in need.
Through its programs and services, this past year the FBCH has ministered to more than 6,500 children and families, and has seen 86 children come to faith in Christ, Haag said.
