It was my joy to attend the Pastors’ Conference at the First Baptist Church in Jacksonville in late January. It was a wonderful conference. I have attended many times in past years, however, as I took the time to walk through the exhibit area, it dawned on me the many ministries and helps that are now available to preachers and churches. I was amazed at the presentations, especially the amount of biblical materials available on computer.
The highlight of the conference was Dr. Mac Brunson’s sermon on “The Cosmic Reversal.” You need to get a copy and study it. It is exceptional.
Last week I preached at The Real Men’s Event at Skeeter Ranch in Live Oak. The event, targeted to fathers and sons, was started and is still organized by Hibernia Baptist Church and Pastor Scott Yirka. It was one of the most fascinating gatherings I have ever attended. All kinds of men’s sports were available from skeet shooting, pheasant hunting, football and even a “greasy pig” chase. I was amazed to see constant witnessing to those in attendance and enjoyed exciting worship experiences that drew 1,000 men and boys together.
Recently across my desk came the announcement that my former pastor, Dr. Jerry Vines, is sponsoring the John 3:16 Conference, March 21-22 at North Metro Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, Ga. What caught my attention were the questions to be addressed at the meeting:
For Whose Sins Did Jesus Die?
What Did We Inherit From Adam?
Does Regeneration Precede Faith?
Is the Sinner’s Prayer Biblical?
If at all possible, I encourage you to attend the conference at the church, where Dr. Frank Cox is pastor. For more information go to: www.jerryvines.com.
I also recently attended the annual meeting for Southern Baptist state convention executives in Oklahoma City. It is always a great time of fellowship and lively discussion. Oklahoma Baptists have just remodeled much of their magnificent camp, Falls Creek. What an amazing place! Thousands of young people attend camps there every summer, making it the largest ongoing youth camp in the world. It has been my joy to preach at the camp in past years and there is no experience like it. God bless Dr. Anthony Jordan and the wonderful Baptists of Oklahoma for their vision.
God is so good to allow Nancy and me to travel across Florida and to other states to see all that He is doing through His people. It is our joy to serve with you, Florida Baptists.
