What a great idea! It is my hope that one of the originators of “A Call to Pray for Revival and Awakening” will tell how this great idea was conceived. I have heard bits and pieces, but would love to learn more of God’s leading in such an event. I believe a prayer vigil for leaders within our Southern Baptist Convention will produce great fruit.
While I realize it is a long way from Florida to Texas, pastors let me encourage you to attend. If needed, let me help you attend. I predict the sacrifice will be worth it.
In the “old days” when an event of a lifetime like this came along, some pastors would get together and make it happen. We carpooled together and took turns driving the distance. It was always worth the effort.
I encourage laypersons in our churches to find a way to assist their pastor. This could be a turning point for our denomination to get back on track with winning people to faith in Christ and baptizing them. Prayer is our hope—God notices when we pray. This will not be a preaching or dialogue meeting. It is a prayer meeting exclusively.
As you consider attending Senior Pastor Dallas Prayer Meeting, Sept. 30-Oct. 1 check out this link with all the information you need: http://eepurl.com/DNIFH.
If you are unable to attend, please consider gathering in your community to pray and seek God’s face. I believe this could be the start of the Spirit of God moving in our midst. Gather your director of missions, other pastors and their staffs together for a time of fervent prayer meeting simultaneously with those in Dallas.
The Jacksonville Baptist Association is planning such an event with one of my good friends, Southern Baptist Convention President Dr. Fred Luter. On Monday night, Sept. 30 the association will meet at Fruit Cove Baptist Church for its annual meeting with Dr. Luter as the guest speaker. And then on Tuesday morning, a Pastors’ Prayer Breakfast will be held at the JBA offices. We have urged all of our staff members to attend this meeting to focus on God’s mercy, grace and blessings.
This fall, representatives of the State Board of Missions will be attending many of the associational meetings to share about RevisionFlorida. Our state must have revival and we must have renewal. And it must begin with each of us.
I pray these next few weeks will be the start of a spiritual renewal among Florida Baptists.
