ALPHARETTA, Ga. (BP)--The chairman of the North American Mission Board's trustees has called a special meeting of NAMB's entire trustee board on Tuesday, Sept. 14, in order to elect the next president of the Southern Baptist entity.

"I am very excited to announce that after prayers and consideration, our presidential search team has a unanimous recommendation for the next president of the North American Mission Board," said Tim Dowdy, chairman of the NAMB board of trustees and pastor of Eagle's Landing First Baptist Church in McDonough, Ga. "The search team has requested a special trustee meeting for the purpose of their presentation. So I am calling for that special trustee meeting on Sept. 14."

"On Monday, Aug. 30, I received a unanimous vote of the search team for our candidate," Traylor said. "We are convinced the Spirit of the Lord has given us His perfect plan in this endeavor."

Traylor, pastor of Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola, Fla., said he would release details on the candidate to NAMB's entire trustees board in a few days.
