BLACK CREEK

Lake Asbury Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs honored Pastor Troy A. Grant July 23, his tenth anniversary with the church. Guests at the celebration included Truman Herring, Grant’s mentor and senior pastor of Boca Glades Baptist Church in Boca Raton; Jason Weathersby, former worship pastor of Lake Asbury Baptist; Paul Castelli, pastor of Crosspoint Church in Spring Hill; Phil and Nancy Grant, Grant’s parents; and Dan and Joyce Prenatt, his wife, Yvette’s parents. The Grants have four children and one grandson. 

GREATER ORLANDO

First Baptist Church of Central Florida will host the Deacon Summit 2012 Aug. 24-25. Sparta Road Baptist Church in Sebring has called Mark McDowell as pastor. He previously served First Baptist Church of Linden in Webster. McDowell is a graduate of Faith Bible Institute in Monroe, La., and Jacksonville Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Darlene, have three daughters and six grandchildren.

He, his wife, Elizabeth Stuart, and three children moved to Brandon from Raleigh, N.C., where he served Bay Leaf Baptist Church seven years. He is a graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, N.C., and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. He previously served churches in South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia.
