GRACEVILLE (BCF)—Baptist College of Florida ushered in the holiday season at the annual Heritage Festival Nov. 16. Hearts were warmed by the fellowship and the sunshine as visitors strolled through Heritage Village enjoying old-fashioned surroundings and watching artisans at work.

The historic buildings were filled with treasures as craft vendors displayed their handiwork and creative skills. From intricately designed jewelry, antique cars, fast moving trains, beautiful paintings, stone carvings, handmade soap and quilts, to the sweet fragrance of cane syrup brewing, there was something for everyone.

Center stage entertainment included talented soloists and guest musicians as well as the BCF faculty, staff, and students providing special musical arrangements. Christmas carolers strolled around throughout the afternoon adding to the festive ambiance of the traditional holiday gathering.

The event was made complete with homemade chili, ham biscuits, and delicious goodies baked by faculty wives to raise money for the scholarship fund.

The Music and Worship Division will perform “Looking for Christmas” as their annual Christmas musical production Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. The Nov. 30 performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. and then on Saturday, Dec. 1, there will be two performances, one at 2:30 p.m. and the other at 6 p.m. in the R. G. Lee Chapel.

This year’s program is unique in that the Music and Worship Division has written the entire original drama which centers around a family that has moved from New York to Florida and is earnestly in search of Christmas in the midst of the warm Florida climate (not the typical snowy weather they are accustomed to).

Through musical encounters with BCF ensembles and instrumental groups, as well as numerous community experiences, the family eventually learns the true meaning of Christmas.

The annual event will showcase BCF students from every area of the Music and Worship Division including the BCF College Choir, College Winds, College Singers, Male Chorale, Women’s Ensemble, the Musical Theatre Group, and the Guitar Ensemble.

Tickets are $5 a person and can be purchased in the BCF business office by calling 850- 263-3261, ext. 418.  For more information about the musical, contact the BCF Music and Worship Division at 800-328-2660, ext. 427.
