Watoto Children’s Choir to sing in several Florida Baptist churches
Feb 7, 2013
By STAFF

JACKSONVILLE (FBW)—Several Baptist churches will host the Watoto Children’s Choir during its month-long tour of Florida. The choir, which aims to raise awareness about the plight of orphaned and vulnerable children of Africa, will be in Florida Feb. 13-March 15.

The choir, which has traveled internationally in 56 units since 1994, will perform a program titled “Beautiful Africa: A New Generation.” All performances are free and open to the public.

Each of the children in the choir has lost one or both of his parents. They live in Watoto Children’s Villages, and, by traveling globally, gain a “bigger worldview, an unusual opportunity they would otherwise never get,” according to a Watoto press release.

Florida Baptist congregations hosting the group include First Baptist Church in Key Largo, Feb. 27, 7 p.m.; McGregor Baptist Church in Fort Myers, March 2, 6 p.m.; LifePoint Church in Palm Bay, March 6, 6 p.m.; First Baptist Church in Venice, March 8, 7 p.m.; and Sarasota First: Downtown Baptist Church, March 9, 7 p.m.
