Jacksonville youth pastor, Jon Moody, 33, dies

JACKSONVILLE (FBW)—Jonathan "Jon" E. Moody, 33, middle school pastor at Chets Creek Church in Jacksonville died Aug. 9.

Moody is survived by his wife Lindsay; young daughters, Ava Grace and Maggie; family members, friends, and students at Chets Creek Church. He is the son-in-law of Spike Hogan, lead pastor of Chets Creek Church. 

A visitation for family and friends is scheduled Mon., Aug. 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Chets Creek Church at 4420 Hodges Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32224. A memorial service is Tues, Aug. 13 at 2 p.m., also at the church. 

A Facebook entry asks that individual respect the family’s need for privacy, but also adds a suggestion for the memorial. 

“Jon would love it if you wore pink,” it says.
Another Jacksonville Middle School pastor, Dan Elkins, who serves at First Baptist Church in Jacksonville, took to social media to share his admiration for Moody on Sunday. 

“Wore pink today 4 my friend Jon Moody. Will miss him but thankful 4 our time together,” Elkins tweeted, using the hashtags, “#pinkforjon #TillWeMeetAgain #MSrocks.” 

Elkins replied to another comment about Moody with, “Sad for his wife and little girls. But thankful he lived such a selfless life. Made a big impact in his short time.”
