Babb H. Adams, former FBSC president, dies at 84

INVERNESS (FBW)–Babb H. Adams, past president of the Florida Baptist State Convention, died Oct. 30 in Inverness, his home since 1981. He was 84.

During his 50 years in the pastorate, Adams served Aripeka Baptist Church, Thonotasassa Baptist Church, Orient Park Baptist Church, First Baptist Church in Immokalee, First Baptist Church and Cornerstone Baptist Church, both in Inverness. He also served as chaplain for the Citrus County Sheriff’s Department.

Adams was a graduate of University of Tampa, Stetson University in DeLand and Luther Rice Seminary in Lithonia, Ga.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marilyn; son, Tim; two daughters, Tempy Henry and Kimberly Bowlin; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Nov. 5, 4-7 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church, and the funeral will be held at the church Nov. 6 at 4 p.m. Interment will be Nov. 7, 1 p.m. at Garden of Memories in Tampa.
