Ken Holton, 58, Lake City worship pastor, dies after flu battle

LAKE CITY (FBW)—Kenneth Lott (Ken) Holton of High Springs, worship pastor of Gateway Baptist Church in Lake City, died Feb. 19 after a battle with H1N1 and pneumonia. He was 58.

Holton, a music graduate of University of Florida, had served Gateway Baptist since 2009. He served churches in Alachua and Gainesville 25 years, including Forest Grove Baptist Church in Alachua and North Central Baptist Church in Gainesville.   Holton was a member of the Florida Baptist Worship Choir and Orchestra.

He is survived by his wife, Nanette; and three children, Kendra Helton, Kena Little and Kenneth Lott Holton II.  He was born Dec. 16, 1955 in Starke, and adopted and raised by Lott and Elvy Holton of High Springs.

The funeral for Lott was Feb. 21 at First Baptist Church in High Sprints. Memorial gifts may be made to the Kenneth Holton Memorial Fund, 25048 NW 182nd Ave., High Springs, FL 32643.
