LAKE CITY (FBW)-A van carrying 10 people from First Baptist Church of New Port Richey crashed on I-75 near Lake City Friday morning, killing two adults and leaving several youth injured, according to Sgt. Tracy Hisler-Pace with the Florida Highway Patrol.

A chartered bus with 53 people from First Baptist Church of New Port Richey was in front of the van at the time of the accident, according to Hisler-Pace, and was not involved in the accident.

The wreck happened at Mile Marker 427 at 8:15 a.m., when the left rear tire on the van blew out, Hisler-Pace said. The names of those who died at the scene or were injured were not being released pending notification of relatives.

Guy Sanders III, pastor of First Baptist Church of New Port Richey, was not available for comment, but a church spokesman said those on the chartered bus and those from the van who were able would be returning to New Port Richey later today.

According to Twitter feeds and Facebook accounts, the church youth group was on its way to FBCDeeper14, a winter church camp in Covington, Ga. The camp is about 430 miles from New Port Richey, and the accident happened 173 miles into the trip.
