FORT MYERS (FBW)—More than a dozen Southern Baptist churches in Fort Myers contributed to a fund to help Second Haitian Baptist Church recover after a driver ran into its building during an Easter evening concert.

So far churches have donated $4,375 to a recovery fund set up by Royal Palm Baptist Association for Second Haitian Baptist.

“I wish you could have seen the shock and humble gratefulness from the three church leaders whom I met with today. They, too, wish to pass along their deepest thanks,” Interim Director of Missions Mark Gonzales wrote in an e-mail to Fort Myers churches.

In thanking the churches for their faithfulness in a time of crisis, he said donations are still welcome. They may be sent to Royal Palm Baptist Association, 5481 Briarcliff Road, Fort Myers, FL 33912, with the designation “Second Haitian Baptist Church Recovery Fund.”
