Zachary Jones, Florida’s 2014 Speakers’ Tournament winner, received second-place honors at the National Bible Drill and Speakers’ Invitational Tournament June 20. Participants from 12 state conventions showcased their speaking and Bible skills at First Baptist Church in Helen, Ga.

Jones, an 11th grader from Fruit Cove Baptist Church in Jacksonville, took runner-up honors with his speech, “What is Truth?” He explored the effects of postmodern thought on the church, asking, “Is there an absolute truth, or is it only applicable to you?”

Jones took second place behind the representative from the Baptist General Convention of Texas.

Florida representatives Jeffrey Gagliardo from Murdock Baptist Church in Port Charlotte and Elizabeth Guy from First Baptist Church in Mount Dora participated in the National Youth and High School Bible Drills.

The representative from Southern Baptists of Texas Convention was named winner of the Youth Bible Drill, and Alabama’s representative won the High School Bible Drill.
