“Sexuality in the 21st Century” is a conference taking place at the DoubleTree hotel in Miami Sept. 11-13 that is being sponsored, in part, by the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and the Miami Baptist Association.
Jose F. Colon will be leading the conference, which is designed to address pastors, church leaders and teachers, parents and young adults.
Colon, a native of Puerto Rico, is an ordained minister and licensed counselor. He holds a Doctorate in Divinity from the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico along with a Doctorate in Education and a Bachelor’s in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico.
On Thursday and Friday, Colon will speak to pastors and church leaders about identifying and helping members in their congregations who are struggling with pornography addictions.
On Saturday morning, the conference will shift gears and focus, in part, on helping parents take the initiative in talking to their sons and daughters about sex before they learn about it in a secular setting. Saturday night, Colon will speak directly to young adults about sex and sexual purity.
Pablo Miret, pastor of Iglesia Bautista Discipulos de Cristo in Hialeah, has put the event together. He said the concept for the conference was born from a course that was sponsored by New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. The course addressed addictions and co-dependencies and was part of a certification program.
The event is free for young adults, $10 for parents and $50 for pastors and leaders who will be attending all three days. Tickets can be purchased through Luciano’s bookstores, your local Baptist church and at the door on the day of the conference. For more information, call (305) 763-6380.
