A private helicopter transported First Baptist Church of Orlando’s senior pastor, David Uth, from the main campus to the church’s new Ocoee satellite campus on Easter Sunday, March 23. Normally a 25-minute drive, the seven-minute flight across town enabled Uth to personally welcome the new campus’ congregation at their first meeting.

Immediately following the main campus’ first service, Uth boarded the helicopter and flew to a special landing zone adjacent to Ocoee High School campus, the site of the new worship service. After greeting the congregation, Uth reboarded the helicopter for a return flight in time for the main campus’ 10:45 a.m. service.

First Baptist is launching the new campus in an effort to reach out to a new and growing segment of the population.

“Because Central Florida has grown so much, we can’t expect everyone to come to us, so we’ve decided to go to them,” Uth said. “We want to create, in Ocoee, an environment that will allow people to engage God both through His Word and in worship, right in their own backyard.”
